Ngueweul Rythme (NNR) is a association of musicians,whose lead vocal and founder is Cheikh Ma Djimbira Ndiaye, known better by the evocative name

«Ndigueul» meaning: submission.

Generale presentation:


The creation of Ngueweul Rythme in March 2002, was born out of need felt by Sheikh Ma Djimbira Ndiaye «Ndigueul» whose ancestral roots are percussion of Senegal. Having felt, in a very early stage, that this virus was sleeping in him, he threw himself in a musical career full of obstacles. United in a association, with his brothers musicians, so they could cope much better with the demands of the music scene.  All kind of family marriage ceremonies, baptism, religious songs were led by them. Known in their hometown Kébémer, located 100 km from the Senegalese capital Dakar, Ngueweul Rythme entry into the heart of the region Louga, Senegal.

 

 

Bio and career:


Ndigueul's start of his national and international life, was not so easy... In 2005, after a long exile in the savannah in search of African sounds, he finally decided to go and conquest Africa and the world. His «African Savane» music consists only of traditional instruments from all around Senegal and Africa. He produced his first album: JAM AK JAMANO.

In 2007 was his first trip to Europe.

 

 

Musical practices:

 

If the primary purpose of a leader is to provide improvement of the social conditions of his musicians, the culture and musical art, its value and its progress, than that is well covered by Ndigueul trough various events, usually of large magnitude. His actions are of the highest order to make original work. He created his own music; Dagon music with the Senegalese Tama and Kora, Bougarabou, Sowrouba, Djembe, Sabar, Tamas, Tabala, Khoin, mixing a cocktail of sounds quite peculiar to Africa.

Traditional music with a touch of modernity known as «African Savane» music.

All instruments are hand made by themselves with local materials; gourd, leather, cow horn, shells, tree trunks and branches.

At a national level, in 2007 Ndigueul has amazed the audience at the Festival of Senegal called Kébéculture by presenting a show with his 100 percussion. His desire to make music, with as many percussions from all regions of Senegal, represented by the different ethnic groups, for the sake of the union, and to represent African rhythm in its greatest diversity.

Ndigueul organise his own festival in 2008 in Kébémer for the Xans anniversary of Ngueweul Rythme and to promote African music. This festival was held in the cultural agenda of the City of Kébémer located about hundred km from the Senegalese capital Dakar. The focus of this festival, which includes more than 5000 people from diferent regions, has helped revitalize the city of Kébémer.

If there is a group of Senegalese musicians who strive to seek pease, building and offering an original score of synthesis of percussion, it is the group; Nguiweul Rythme. The musicians of the group are all from the familie Griot (keepers of history).

The music from Ngueweul Rythme and his lead vocal Ndigueul is primarily based on the rhythm that invite to party, dance love and peace. But also a melodious with liricks to sing and accompany initiatives to support Africa's development.
